with United Nations "Year of Volunteers 2001", Habitat for Humanity
celebrated the 25th year. The national programme Habitat for Humanity
Guyana Ltd. seeks the participation of many more volunteers in its work.
Below are listed some of the immediate openings at the national and affiliate
levels for volunteers with specific skills and experience.
The
following vacancies offer retirees, persons in the middle of their careers,
and young professionals excellent opportunities to make invaluable contributions
to the development of their communities.
Youth
Programme Coordinator
Job Summary:
The YPC will work closely with the National Coordinator in the development
of a Habitat for Humanity chapter on the Turkeyen campus. He/She will
play a pivotal role in engaging young people in supporting the work of
Habitat for Humanity in Guyana.
Job Requirements: Excellent interpersonal skills. Good oral and
written communication.

National
Educator
Job Summary: Technical advisor to the National Coordinator. The
National Educator will assist in the design and delivery of education
programmes and orientation and continuing education for new employees,
volunteers, and homeowners.
Job Requirements: Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.
Experience in the field of education. Someone who has previously worked
with community based education programmes is being sought.
Church
Relations Coordinator
Job Summary:
Working closely with the National Committee, the CRC will develop and
execute a work plan, which allows for maximum participation of churches
in the work and ministry of HFHG.
Job Requirements: Mature Christian outlook and demonstrated Christian
commitment. Good oral and written communication.

Volunteer
and Donor Relations Coordinator
Job
Summary: Working under the direct supervision of the Resource Development
Coordinator the V&DC helps to initiate and nurture partnerships with
HFHG Volunteers and Donors both at the national and international levels.
Job Requirements: Proven people skills. Excellent oral and written
communication skills are absolutely necessary for this position.

Auditors (4)
Job Summary:
To monitor accounting systems and practices at the national and affiliate
levels. To make recommendations regarding maintenance of accounting records.
Job Requirements: At minimum, a diploma in accounts and five years
in the field of auditing.
Note: Minimum 8 hours per week
Construction
Superintendent
Job Summary:
The Construction Supervisor is a technical assistant to the National Coordinator.
He/ She will be pivotal in the creation and management of a technical
support unit tasked with assisting affiliates in the designing of appropriate
homes, quality control, preparing and enforcing contracts.
Job Requirements: Technically skilled. Experience in the area of
low cost housing projects is required. Previous experience with community-based
groups would be an asset.
A Minimum 20 hours
work per week is required for some of these positions .
